1. TADASANA (THE PALM TREE POSE)

STEPS:

  1. Standing straight on ground with a small gap between your feet.
  2. Interlock your fingers, inhale and raise your heels and take your arms above your head simultaneously.
  3. Try to focus on a single point and maintain this pose as long as you can (While holding the pose, continue normal breathing).
  4. Now exhale and come to the original position.
  5. Repeat atleast 3 cycles.

2. VRIKSHASANA (THE TREE POSE)

STEPS:

  1. Stand erect with feet together. Fold your right leg and place it on your left thigh with the toes of right leg pointing downwards.
  2. The right leg should be perpendicular to the left.
  3. Extend your arms above your head. Inhale and make a namaskara mudra with your palms.
  4. Balance the pose and focus on a single point.
  5. Exhale and get your arms and legs to relax. Repeat with left leg.
  6. Repeat atleast 3 cycles.

  • Improves balancing ability and achieves physical and mental stability.
  • Strengthens ligament and tendon.

3. BHUJANGASANA (THE COBRA POSE)

STEPS:

  1.  Lie flat on your stomach with your hands besides your chest.
  2.  Keep your feet together and toes touching the ground.
  3.  As you inhale, lift your head, chest and abdomen.
  4.  Exhale and come back to initial position.
  5. Repeat its 5 rounds.

  • Strengthens core muscles.
  • Stimulates digestive system.
  • Relieves constipation.
  • Elevates mood, makes spine and muscles stronger.
  • Effective in obesity.
  • Reduces menstrual irregularities in women.

4. VAJRASANA (THE THUNDERBOLT POSE)

STEPS:

  1.  Start by kneeling on the floor.
  2. Put your knees and ankles together and point your feet in-line with your legs.
  3. Put your hands on your thighs and sit comfortably.

BENEFITS:

  •  Helpful in digestion.
  •  Combats constipation, indigestion and acidity.
  •  Improves blood circulation.
  •  Corrects rounded back and drooping shoulders.

5. SHASHANKASANA (THE RABBIT POSE)

Yoga

STEPS:

  1. Sit in Vajrasana. Inhale and raise arms above the head.
  2. Exhale and slowly move the torso in the forward direction.
  3. Keep the arms slightly bent and rest the hands,forehead and elbows on the mat.
  4. Perform 3 cycles.

  • Tones the pelvic muscles.
  • Relieves sciatic pain.
  • Proves helpful in relaxing the body and mind.
  • Provides a good stretch to the upper body.
